Advanced Mechanical Testing and Composite Manufacturing of Bio-Based Resins
At the Department of Polymer Engineering at the University of Bayreuth, we specialize in the advanced mechanical testing of bio-based resins, ensuring their reliability and performance for various applications.
The bio-based monomers synthesized by ICMPE can be processed in two ways: they can be directly filled into pre-shaped molds or cut into the desired shape using sawing or CNC milling techniques.
For mechanical testing, we offer a wide range of testing machines (0.1 kN to 250 kN) to cover the full spectrum of mechanical characterization for both neat resins and composite materials.
Our composite manufacturing capabilities include multiple processing techniques, such as vacuum infusion, RTM (Resin Transfer Molding), and prepreg manufacturing. Additionally, we use an autoclave to produce porosity-free composite samples, enabling precise control over the manufacturing process.
This ensures that each bio-based resin is processed in an optimized manner, taking into account its viscosity, pot life, and reactivity.
